Ialyssos

 

It is located 8km from the town of Rhodes, in the northwest part of the island. Keeping the name of the ancient town-country, which flourished at the end of the 5th century BC, Ialysos can be the beginning of your tour around the island. The region is of important archaeological interest as it is inhabited since prehistoric times. The ancient town of Iallisos, one of the three biggest ancient towns in the island, extends around Filerimos’ hill, where is the acropolis with the monuments of archaic, byzantine and knightly periods. Ialysos is the most popular resort area all over the island of Rhodes for wind surfing, except Prassonisi, which is known as “Surfer’s Paradise”. The summer winds on the west coast of the island are ideal for wind surfing lovers and able to rise your adrenaline up to the limit.
